Ackee is a fruit brought over from Ghana and is similar to Lychee. This is usually cooked in a pot with plenty of tomatoes, onions, and spices.

Jamaica is most famous for Jerk Chicken. While this dish has found its way around the world, nowhere does it better than right here! And it isn’t just chicken either, Jamaican cuisine often utilizes Jerk spice in a wide variety of dishes and snacks.

Curry Goat and Oxtail are two dishes that are mainly made during festivities or special holidays. Hearty dishes bursting with incredible flavors, you simply must try them if you can.

For adventurous drinkers the Flaming Bob Marley shot is worth trying. Triple layered to look like the Jamaican flag and lit on fire! It is not for the faint of heart.

Coffee lovers will be able to savor the sweet flavor of Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee, which is made from Arabica coffee beans.

Best Time

Jamaica is the warmest of all the Caribbean islands meaning it is beach weather no matter what time of year you visit. But it is a country that is prone to hurricanes and heavy seasonal rainfall.
A great time to visit is from November to early December. Hurricane season will have ended, and the country is generally quieter. Temperatures reach average highs of 29°C and lows of 22°C.
For holidaymakers who want a warmer and livelier holiday, you will want to travel between June and September. Most of the best festivals are on during these months. The Ocho Rios Jazz Festival, Ochi Seafood Carnival, as well as the world-famous Jamaica Carnival!
Temperatures reach average highs of 33°C and lows of 24°C. But the high humidity will make it feel far warmer than it is. There is a risk of hurricanes during these months.
