Honduras is a tropical country, meaning visitors can expect warm weather all year round. The best time to travel is between December and April, known as the dry season. Temperatures can reach highs of 32°C and lows of 26°C.
Downpours are less common, but still happen. Humidity is lower, making this the ideal time to travel for holidaymakers who prefer a less intense heat. The Punta Gorda Festival also takes place during the month of April.
During the wet season, which is the period between May and November, downpours are far more common and humidity is higher.
During this period temperatures on the coast can reach average highs of 32°C and lows of 27°C. Inland temperatures can reach highs of 37°C and lows of 32°C.
It is important to note that the humidity of the wet season can make it seem far hotter than it actually is. The temperature peaks early in the season and gradually declines. The San Isidro Festival in La Ceiba is held during the month of May, while Independence day festivities take place on September 15.
